Question from open poly to get my gas fitting credits
When re-commissioning an oven with a modulating thermostat you decide to include an oven door slam test. what is the purpose of this test?
can any one help with this one?
I guess to see if the burner goes out if so gas should be shut off by FFD and oven will have to be reignited?
I would tend to agree with your guess. I beleive it is to make sure the oven burner/pilot does not get blown out when the door is slammed closed. most of the domestic gas ovens use a rectification flame failure and commercials use a pilot. hope this helps.
most of these sorts of tests are to simulate extreme conditions.
;D
Yep the only requirement for a "slam shut" test on a gas oven is to test if the flame goes out that the flame failure device works and shuts down all gas flow to the oven.
