Title: Fellow Practitioner Issue 254 Dated 15 May 2015

Was the Government just pulling our ponytail when they debated the Plumbers Gasfitters and Drainlayers Amendment Bill.

Look at this from the MoBIE web site    Occupational licensing – building practitioners costs for this activity are being reviewed and $7.095m, incorrectly attributed to it, was written off during the year." Yep just write it off but no money to pay us back.

Just a quick update on the licensing statistics from the public register on 1 May 2015, one month into the current licensing year.

I can confirm the letter to the editor as I came through about the same time. Apprentices were ripped of.  Those on 10000 hour apprenticeships were told they were being reduced to 8000 hours. No one told them of the extra 2years required and the extra exams and cost until months later. They weren't told of the option to stay on the 10000 hour apprenticeship and go straight to craftsman status.
