The industry needs to up its performance so not only do we need to have SMART Performance Measures (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, Timely), we also need to be smart about the decisions we make with regard to qualifications and apprenticeships. We are in danger of people wanting to make money for themselves now without regard to the future of the industry when both can be easily achieved. Is it the fear of change?

If you care about the fabric and integrity of a piece of cloth....

...then tie all the loose and frayed ends.....

...  or it will, over time, definitely unravel....

...  and the bigger the loose end, then the greater the certainty that the fabric will unravel.....ignored these frayed weaknesses will not go away, they will grow....

.....  perhaps those newly charged with looking after the fabric of the PGDB could learn something from this analogy....
You can't choose who you are.....but you are the sum of your choices.......
