We did report one really bad job and I have to say I was impressed with the speed of the response.  We send a 9 page document to the Board showing photos, an indepth description of the installation, test results, a pic of the website of the guy who did the job, a lot of details on what we thought was wrong.  We sent it by email at about 7pm at night and the Board had someone on site by 9am the next morning.  A prosecution was taken against a non tradesman for the work and he was fined I think $3k but was already serving time in her Majesty's prison, so don't know if the fine was ever paid.  The customer in this case had paid top dollar for a job that was done by someone who was not a gasfitter but who was employed by a firm that advertise "panting, plastering, decorating, plumbing, gasfitting etc etc" you know the one stop shop - we do it all.  He had got a person from a temp agency who he said told him this guy was a gasfitter.

It is always worth reporting these things - while I don't agree with everything the PGDB does in regards to fees and their attitude to some things - we can't let work like this go unreported - it does our reputations no good - and quite frankly why should people get away with work like this?  It makes us all look shoddy.

What the Board want is details when you report - as much information as you can give - name, address, photos etc all help.
