it would appear 11 people attended, four from one company,  three from another, four business owners and one other. Looks like it was a bit of a snooze fest where the Board were trying to win everyone over.

When asked about the protest action of pay no fees to the PGDB the Registrar apparently claimed licences were up on last year.

Another waste of time?   I wonder what the real reason for the trip to Taupo was?

11 people?  So does that mean:
a) Most gasfitters, plumbers and drainlayers in Taupo and the outlying reaches are thrilled with what the PGDB are doing?
b) People don't care
c) People don't think their opinions count any more
e) There were other more exciting things on in Taupo that same day - like watching paint dry

Can we hear from someone that attended? Was the meeting short or long? Did they do all the talking, or were people able to ask questions?

You know that story about licensing being up - I've heard it before - and it didn't make sense when you saw the actual figures.  Lies, damn lies and statistics...

Jaxcat   This is an outstanding result for the Board.

Remember no response is a YES and is totally supportive of the Board or at least that's the way it works with consultation.

I think they have been spinning so much bullshit that now they actually believe it themselves.

Badger

I bet it wasn't well advertised....except when they phoned their mates to turn up......

ALL meetings should be advertised 2 weeks before in the local news paper and there should be a meeting held in each main centre across the board (pardon the pun) for a real consultation to be carried out.........but they wouldn't like what was said.

There needs to be a "Meet the Board Roadshow" that goes around small towns as well. If you live in Kaitaia, it's highly unlikely that you forgo a days work and pay to travel to Auckland and back just to meet the Board. Even if they went to Whangarei, it's not going to help those further north. Same goes for the remote areas in the South Island - travelling 4 hours there, attending a meeting, travelling 4 hours home is not a happening thing for a lot of guys. especially if the meetings are at night.

hi guys, watchdog says: (Remember no response is a YES and is totally supportive of the Board or at least that's the way it works with consultation) my opinion is that consultation results should be taken as a % of the response, not the non response. We have an `General Election` coming up in September where if you don`t vote you don`t count and is not a vote for the party in power, cheers

bowtieboy

I agree with robbo, this is a rub ya nose in it for the board as clearly tradesmen in the central districts don't or wont be bothered with the pgdb. and that's why they only had 11 ppl.

The board should be worried... very worried. its time for change beware max and bill
