I see the Plumbers, Gasfitters and Drainlayers Board are riding into town - and have invited plumbers, gasfitters and drainlayers to attend a meeting with a Board member and the CEO to discuss industry issues.  I hope all the practitioners in this geographic area make the most of this opportunity and ask the Board about the audits as a term and condition of licensing, why plumbers, gasfitters and drainlayers are paying almost 10 times what their electrical counterparts are  for licensing, why sparkies can go to two year licensing and we can't, why fees are so high, why the Board continues to get it so wrong when it comes to interpreting the legislation....

Don't complain if you don't take the time to turn up and discuss opportunities.

INVITATION : INDUSTRY BRIEFING

All plumbers, gasfitters and drainlayers in the area
are invited to attend

Board Member Bill Irvine and Chief Executive Max Pedersen of the Plumbers Gasfitters and Drainlayers Board are meeting with Taupo area plumbers, gasfitters and drainlayers at 4.30pm on Wednesday 5th March 2014 at the Taupo Cosmopolitan Club (Ruapehu Room), 5 Taniwha Street, Taupo.

All plumbers, gasfitters and drainlayers in the area are welcome to attend. There will be a briefing about current issues from the Board representatives and the opportunity for questions about any Board related business.

Have you learned lessons only of those who admired you, and were tender with you, and stood aside for you?  Have you not learned great lessons from those who braced themselves against you, and disputed the passage with you?  (Walt Whitman 1819-1891)  American Poet

hi guys, yes Jax agree but we should stump up the cost of allowing Wal to attend (if he can) then the relevant questions will be asked, not a lot of time to organize going to the meeting as it is on wed 5th,cheers

Hi Robbo

Yes I agree Wal would be a great person to attend
Unless the moral improves the floggings will continue

I am intrigued to see if all local areas are going to get a visit from the CEO and a Board member.  Surely - otherwise what allure does Taupo have for the Board that say, Gore doesn't?  Or Wellington even - where they are based.  Should be reasonably easy to organise a local meeting there.

C'mon Taupo and it's surrounds - tell us your secret!!  How did you manage to get this meeting???????

robbo

hi guys/Jax, perhaps they have worked out that there is no one there to ask embarrassing questions, or they maybe 'Trout Fishermen`cheers

Badger

If you don't go to all main centres, then you should go to any.....where's the fairness.......fishing for sure
You can't choose who you are.....but you are the sum of your choices.......

I would say it is more a case of being seen to do the right thing rather than doing the right thing.

Bill Irvine is from Taupo so perhaps they are doing meetings in the areas where the Board member may have some support?

Badger

Perhaps its out his back garden with just his relatives and golf buddies, that's fair (about as fair as these guys do)

wombles

Perhaps one of the questions could be how Bills lack of recent experience in Drainlaying qualifies him as "one of the boys"  2) Is it fair that someone who hasn't done any practical work for more than 20 years, but has paid licence fees, gets to be of Certified status, when in reality he would have no idea at all of how to lay a drain, plumb a house etc.  There are many of these old timers around who are qualified only because they paid their fees. Who will audit them and who will be brave enough to say their licenses are cancelled.

Jaxcat

Sounds like it might be an interesting meeting.  I am very keen to hear how it goes.

bowtieboy

Yeah that would be a great meeting to be a fly on the wall at, wonder if they shout beers for the guys, it being at the cosie, n all.
I believe in doing a job once and right. !

Backflow

How did this go guys?

Backflow

Don't tell me no one went to this?  :(

Badger

Don't live in Taupo mate, would have been there with bells on other wise

gordyplum
