i will not use pink primer when im fitting off a house for the simple reason it can be messy if the brush flicks that crap on flors or walls, and i have a cosnatnt fear of not doing up the top and turning around and knocking it ove on someones new floor! we are supposed to use it on sewer/wastepipes for jointing but i refuse to use it when fitting off - screw the council!

You don't need to use the pink stuff, it also comes without the dye.

You can also use methylated spirits. If an inspector ever questions this you can refer him to NZS 7643 which is the standard for installation of pvc.

thanks! i dont really see what the advantage is to using primer anyway

TS

Technically speaking the solvent cement doesn't etch into the pvc properly if it isn't cleaned first. The primer removes the shiney protective coating off the pvc.

Basically gets rid of anything that may effect the solvent join. Just buy the clear primmer
