In the Waikato we have had another stalwart of the industry retire recently. We acknowledge the contribution to mainly the gasfitters of our region of Eddie Makin. A past Gas Inspector who deserves the same sort of accolades that Mac has been getting. Finished his career as a Tutor and a consultant at Wintec where he was a huge help in trying to sort out the nonsensical ITO training scheme (with some success)! He will be sorely missed by everyone in the Industry. Good onya Eddie

I concur - Eddie's contribution has been felt in Wellington as well - and he will be a great loss to industry with his retirement.  He does indeed deserve the same sort of accolades as Mac is getting.  It's great to see others in the industry acknowledging the contributions of these guys who certainly did their share to foster and encourage young trainees, and not so young practitioners.  You are never too old to learn that's for sure.  Yes to Eddie - thanks and good wishes for some fun years!

Have you learned lessons only of those who admired you, and were tender with you, and stood aside for you?  Have you not learned great lessons from those who braced themselves against you, and disputed the passage with you?  (Walt Whitman 1819-1891)  American Poet
